Chapter 118 Warning
At first, Lei Zhen wanted to head to his room to inspect the new item he received from the system, Staff of Flagrance.
But with the appearance of Priest Tauren and the tone of his speech, he had to push this matter aside for now.
Priest Tauren was similar to him in demeanor and would not joke around when it comes to serious things.
Thus, Lei Zhen readily agreed to discuss with him privately when requested by Priest Tauren.
\'Could this be another follow-up to the Main Scenario?\' Lei Zhen thought to himself, walking his way to the office.
In the entrance door, there were two guards standing respectively in the left and right side, preventing anyone else from entering.
"Chancellor!"
Both the guards said and bowed their heads slightly upon seeing Lei Zhen come over.
Lei Zhen nodded his head.
"This person here is Priest Tauren, a guest from afar in the City of Olympus. Make sure to treat him with respect." He introduced, subtly warning the guards to watch their mouth and not make a mistake.
Although he knew Priest Tauren can\'t do much in Yors Castle, he can\'t outright cross out the fact that he could be here with another motive, using the purification as the context of excuse.
And the guards nodded their heads, clearly understanding Lei Zhen\'s meaning.
The guards were all handpicked by Lei Zhen and their intelligence was far higher than other guards.
Thus, they instantly knew what else Lei Zhen wanted them to do: to investigate the background of Priest Tauren.
"Rest assured, Chancellor. We\'ll know what to do." One of the guards said, acting as if he was going to respect Priest Tauren, but was in fact replying to his other meaning.
Priest Tauren thought it was just a normal conversation between them, so he failed to realize the subtle meaning behind their simple conversation.
"Please come in," Lei Zhen said, going to his personal chair to sit. "This personal room is inlaid with magic formation, preventing any possible eavesdroppers."
"I see, that\'s good to hear." Priest Tauren took his seat and nodded his head.
Learning that the room is protected and could not be heard by a third party reassured him.
After all, what he said is meant to be confidential and only Lei Zhen could hear it. This was also the reason why he waited for Lei Zhen to be alone and requested a private talk.
A few minutes later, Priest Tauren finally took a deep breath and his expression turned solemn.
"Chancellor, I hope you can be honest with my next question." He said in a stern yet respectable tone.
"As long as it\'s not related to my personal secret or privacy, then I shall try my best to answer honestly." Lei Zhen removed his mask and equally showed a solemn expression.
"Then have you ever heard of a half woman and half spider named Arachane?"
"..."
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Silence occurred in the room and a look of astonishment appeared on Lei Zhen\'s face, clearly not expecting the name Arachne to be brought up, especially by a priest from the City of Olympus.
Meanwhile, Priest Tauren noticed his silence and slight change of expression made him get a gist of it.
"Seems like the Archbishop was correct. The future holder of the Ferold\'s Ring would also be the one to release some of the greatest myths in Magnolia." Priest Tauren suddenly said.
"I\'m not sure what you meant by that, Priest Tauren?" After regaining his composure, Lei Zhen managed to suppress the shock and replied calmly.
"No need to act dumb, Chancellor. Two weeks ago, we discovered one of the dungeons from Arachne\'s clone was successfully released from the curse made by Goddess Athena. This incident caused the whole City of Olympus to be in chaos, so an investigation was conducted."
Lei Zhen kept tapping his fingers on the table, not responding nor showing a reaction to Priest Tauren\'s words.
However, that didn\'t stop Priest Tauren from talking as he continued on with his wordings.
"The archbishop was alerted and asked me to search for the culprit while making my journey here for the Ferold\'s Ring. After some investigating in the Town of Wales, I\'ve heard that a powerful adventurer and a beginner were heading toward the supposed location of the Arachne Dungeon."
"I\'m afraid you\'re mistaken then, Priest Tauren." Lei Zhen chuckled softly and shrugged his shoulders.
"Would you believe a beginner would ever achieve my position, much less obtain the trust of Princess Kate?" He added.
Priest Tauren narrowed his eyes, seemingly trying to discern the truth and validity of his words.
However, Lei Zhen was expressionless, almost as if he could no longer be read by others.
Seeing this, Priest Tauren decided to push forward and asked, "Then why were you shocked by the name Arachne?"
"Again, you\'re mistaken about my reaction, Priest Tauren. It\'s better to say I was more confused rather than shocked since it\'s my first time hearing the name Arachne."
"Is that so…"
"Mhmm, I\'m a busy man as you can tell. So honestly, I was trying to see if that name rang a bell to my mind or not."
With Lei Zhen adamant of not acknowledging it, there was nothing Priest Tauren could do either.
He had no evidence to prove that the beginner was in fact Lei Zhen and if he tried to push it and accidentally cross his bottomline, then it would spell trouble for him.
Thus, Priest Tauren could only accept the current fact at the moment and leave the office.
Before leaving though, he made sure to give a subtle warning, "If the Chancellor happens to encounter such a person, please relay these words for me. Messing with something that the god and goddess punish themselves wouldn\'t do them any good."
"Noted," Lei Zhen kept a calm smile and replied.
As soon as Priest Tauren left the office though, a cold expression appeared on Lei Zhen\'s face.
"Warning me huh? I bet you priests and churches must have a death wish."
