Chapter 19 Aura
The invasion in the goblin village was sharp and deadly, as each knight was much stronger than a mere goblin, but the number of opponents was many times greater, and a lot of knights were already seriously wounded. Zayne did not notice this since he was completely focused on his future fight, but his aura began to grow unnaturally.
\'Hmm...? What\'s going on?\' Zayne inwardly muttered in confusion as he didn\'t understand where the faint blue glow on his body came from, then the glow got larger and like a bright flash covered the whole village for a moment.
[You were the one to whom Fate turned its attention before its Blessing, so being in this Chaos Hearth makes you stronger not only yourself but also all allies within a hundred meters radius]
[All stats increased by 20%, Vitality and Endurance additionally increased by 1.5x]
"Hmm...? What happened...?" One of the soldiers muttered with a puzzled expression, looking at his wounded hands, "I feel like I got suddenly stronger, but is that possible?"
"AGH!!!" The goblin noticed that the soldier was distracted and attacked him sharply, aiming at his chest with the sharp blade.
The soldier realized too late what was going on, so he had no chance to dodge. He tried to do so, but tripped over a rock and fell as the goblin was almost next to him.
"No!" The soldier exclaimed, putting his hands out in front of him in a panic.
Crackle.
Suddenly a knight appeared in front of him and in a heartbeat, the goblin\'s furious screams ended as a few drops of dark blood splashed on his face. The soldier slowly opened his eyes and saw the stern gaze of his elder, with the severed head of the goblin slowly rolling at his feet.
"Get up. Next time I may not be able to save you. You must be more careful." The knight said coldly as if he was angry at the soldier, however, he held out his hand to help him up.
The soldier nodded, and awkwardly scratching the back of his head said, "Sorry, I was just wondering where I got my new powers... I guess I imagined it."
"No, you\'re just inexperienced." Knight said calmly before pointing at Zayne, in the distance, "It\'s all about him."
"Hmm? Who\'s that?" The soldier tilted his head with a complicated expression, "He doesn\'t look strong and he doesn\'t seem like a mage... So how did he make us stronger?"
"You heard about the fight last night in Landow Village, right?" Knight asked while keeping a close eye on the situation.
"Yes." The soldier nodded quickly, "I was elsewhere at this point, I wish I could have seen the fight that attracted Fate\'s Sight."
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "Well, now you have the opportunity to see something better as Zayne was one of the fighters and he was the winner which is why here at Chaos Hearth we are stronger because of him." Knight said seriously with sincere gratitude.
"Hmm? Damn, he must be lucky to have such power." The soldier frowned, thinking that Zayne was unworthy of it.
"Hah, that power helps us too, what\'s more, I hear he was a completely different person at the end of the fight, so if I were you I wouldn\'t look at him that way. He is a Traveler and will easily deal with you if you become his enemy." The knight said with a chuckle as his gaze became serious since a group of goblins was approaching them, "That\'s it, this conversation is over. Use your new powers to fight better!"
Knight\'s gaze became sharp as blades as he lashed out at the group of goblins in a dark flash. There was only one knight and about ten soldiers in each squad, so they had a lot of responsibility.
...
\'Hah, I didn\'t expect what Roland was talking about to actually happen...\' Zayne said to himself with an excited expression, \'Damn, Fate truly knows what we need. I feel like I could fight forever!\'
Endurance and Vitality were probably the most important stats for long combat since Endurance allowed the warrior to fight much more and strengthen his whole body while Vitality greatly increased regeneration, which was crucial when there were more opponents.
"Fine, in that case, I can easily deal with you!" Zayne exclaimed, pointing his blade at the goblin.
The goblin was shorter than Zayne by half, but the monster was much more ferocious, so after a loud roar, the goblin ran at Zayne.
Zayne was focused as he carefully watched the goblin\'s every move, last time it had helped him defeat Rolf.
\'He may seem weak, but I must not relax. Even a simple wound will get me into a lot of trouble.\' Zayne inwardly muttered as his pupils narrowed as the goblin approached too quickly.
Zayne reflexively jumped aside, so the goblin slashed not Zayne, but the air with his swing.
\'Great, this is my chance!\' Zayne rushed forward in a heartbeat ending up behind the goblin\'s back, clutching the hilt of his blade tightly with both hands he thrust it into the goblin\'s head.
Crackle.
Zayne twisted the blade causing blood to gush out of the goblin\'s mouth, eyes and ears in dense streams, then the goblin fell to the ground with a blank stare.
[You got 3 EXP!]
\'Hmm? So little? I got seven times more for the Black Wolf! Although... Damn, I\'d rather kill ten goblins than face that creepy beast again.\' Zayne inwardly muttered as a wave of shiver went through his body.
"Roooooooaaaarrrr!!!" Suddenly a shout came from two goblins running in his direction.
"Hmm? Shit!" Zayne exclaimed with a frightened expression as he realized he had been inattentive, "Agh?" However, in the next moment, his eyes went wide as a shadow appeared behind the goblins.
Crackle.
Harald\'s hands gripped the goblins\' heads tightly and in an instant they were buried in the ground. The attack was so strong that the goblins did not rise again, for them it was the end.
"Hey, you need to be more careful if you don\'t want to be my patient again. I already told you that next time you\'ll have to pay good money." Harald smirked as he looked across the battlefield, "Although, with your aura from Fate, we\'ll be done with everything in no time. Looks like this is going to be one of the easiest Chaos Hearths I\'ve ever had."
Their brief conversation ended and they returned to the fight. Zayne wasn\'t in a hurry to get as many experience points as possible, he was picking lone opponents and learning how to fight.
"Phew, looks like that was the last one." Zayne sighed in relief, wiping the sweat from his forehead. It was his sixth goblin and there were no more opponents around as the Knights were already finishing off the last ones.
The knights and especially Roland were the most effective since there were so many dead bodies next to them, seemingly Roland had killed over a hundred goblins. The last surviving goblin also fell prey to him as Roland ended it all with a simple swing of his sword, slicing the monster in two.
He took a deep breath, knocked the blood off his sword, and clapped his hands together attracting the attention of all the hundred soldiers.
"Fine, I see everyone is alive." Roland said seriously, but a satisfied smile still appeared on his face, "The wounded return to camp, and someone helps them. The rest of you, surround this cauldron, and don\'t let anyone come here!"
Roland\'s order was carried out instantly as in half a minute there were already ten tall men standing around the cauldron with menacing stares.
"Well, well, now it\'s just a matter of finding out what\'s in there." Aron walked slowly up to Roland, pointing to the massive hut.
